Laos: A brief guide
Laos
Laos is probably the least known country in South East Asia and as such it is pretty much undiscovered and unspoilt. The scenery is magnificent with impressive mountain ranges , lush countryside, meandering rivers, stunning waterfalls, traditional villages and beautiful temples. The country has an ancient history that goes back thousands of years and more recently the French colonial area has left its mark with elegant boulevards and buildings in the cities.
Vientiane the capital city is very elegant with tree lined avenues and temples situated on the banks of the Mekong River. It has a slow, relaxed pace of life and the calm Buddhist way of life for the local people is very evident. You mustn’t miss Luang Probang with its well preserved old quarter and restaurants lining the banks of the Mekong. And in the Highlands there are still many hill tribes and ethnic communities untouched by the modern world.
Laos makes a great extension to a tour in Vietnam or Cambodia.
